We are Safe, Open, and FISHING!

The Missouri River is Fishing very well! Big Brown from The MO this week!

WE ARE SAFE!

Thank you so much for everyone who reached out asking if we are ok. The answer is, “yes.” We were very lucky. All things considered, we got off pretty easy from the flood on June 13, 2022. Some of our neighbors were not so lucky. Last Tuesday, we used our waders to go on a post- flood rescue mission to save our friend’s 15 year old Parakeet, Mr. Fredrickson, and Bearded Dragon, Dennis. We were thrilled to help and the waders kept everyone dry! Again, we cannot thank everyone enough who reached out. We appreciate having such caring friends, clients, and family around the world, and we are ready to take you fishing and show you Montana!

WE ARE OPEN!

Great Boulder River Brown

Livingston is open! Emigrant is open! The East River Road to Gardiner is just fine and open! The Highway 89 bridge at Point of Rocks fishing access is being worked on as we speak and will likely be open within a few days! The only thing that is closed is the northern part of Yellowstone National Park. This will be the best summer to stay, fish, hike, raft, horse-ride, drink, and eat in Paradise Valley. it will be like the Paradise Valley of 30 years ago………. there will not be 2 million people driving through to see Yellowstone. Apart from the FINANCIAL DEVASTATION to our community, We are actually pretty excited about the solitude this summer.

East River Road is open from Livingston to Gardiner!

Currently, the Gardiner Sewer system is fixed. We expect Gardiner to be open for lodging and recreating in the next few days. We will keep everyone posted as things unfold. Livingston, Emigrant, Pray, and Tom Miner Basin are fully open And there are lodging options available! The Old Saloon and Pine Creek lodge have an incredible line-up of concerts and shows coming this summer. The beer is colder than ever, and there won’t be issues with parking or lines!

The Custer Gallitan National Forest and Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness areas have an endless amount of hiking trails. The Yellowstone will be a brand NEW river. Rafting will be AWESOME with our high water. This will be the best summer to visit Paradise Valley. You can make a trip into Yellowstone either through West, Cody, or Jackson on your way here……. Or come to 1970s Montana this summer and save going into Yellowstone for next year. We are OPEN and we can’t wait to see you!

WE ARE FISHING!

The past week we have been fishing some of our local private and public lakes in the area until our Rivers come back into play. The Lakes have been fishing Very well and they are great place to learn how to fish a stillwater fishery and learn the sport of fly-fishing. Our weather has been pretty amazing the last few days. We will continue to fish our local lakes until the Yellowstone River starts to become fishable (around the end of June). give us a call! We would love to take you on a local fishing trip on our lakes.

Other Rivers we fish on a regular basis are the Madison and Missouri Rivers. These rivers are a little bit of a drive from Livingston, but we have guides available and would love to take you on some of our our state’s other PRISTINE Rivers.

The Yellowstone River

We are very excited to fish the Yellowstone River when it comes down from our normal, seasonal runoff. It will be a new river as some of the channels have changed. People have asked us if the fish are ok? The fish and River will be totally fine. The Yellowstone goes through significant run-off every year in June, so our trout are much more acclimated to rapidly increasing/decreasing flows on our UNDAMMED River. This year our run-off has been very typical minus the 1 day of torrential rain and flooding on June 13. As mentioned above, we think this is going to be one of the best years to fish the Yellowstone! It will not be crowded; we will have plenty of water; and almost all of our boat ramps either made it through unharmed or actually got better! We expect SALMONFLIES around the first week of July.

Give us a call and book your guide trip today. We have many guides who have been booked since January but now have some days open. This means the best guides on the river now have availability! Give us a call, and we will see you in Montana!
