Montana Fishing 2019!
It is time to start thinking about your 2019 Montana fishing trip! Our season here in Yellowstone Country is shaping up to be a great one. As many of you know, we have been pounded (blessed) with tons of snow over the past 6 weeks. Our Upper Yellowstone area snowpack is up to around 120% which is fantastic. What does this mean for the fishing? Likely:
May- In the Livingston area, the best options are either the Spring Creeks or the private lakes. These both provide great opportunities for Spring fishing near Livingston. For floating rivers, the Missouri is a terrific option for very exciting early season fishing. Yellowstone National Park opens to fishing May 25th this year. The Firehole River, Gibbon River, and YNP lakes will be our go-to in late May/early June.
June- The Park, Spring Creeks, Private Lakes, Madison River, and Missouri River are all wonderful options. We spend most of our time in the Park, targeting smaller creeks and adventure.
End of June-October- This is our “prime-time” here in Yellowstone Country. We expect to be floating the Yellowstone toward the end of June (26th-ish). The water will be high and green, but it will get better every day after that. We suspect the Salmonfly hatch to start around the first of July.
July and August trips are getting booked up, so please contact us for questions or trip inquiries. We are excited to provide you and your family with a trip of a lifetime here in Yellowstone Country. We love fishing with anglers of all ability levels and know that all anglers will walk away from a guided fishing trip having learned something new from our expert guides. Each fishing trip is uniquely catered to the client’s wants and dreams. Do you want to float three different sections of the Yellowstone River or do you want to hike into Yellowstone backcountry, off trail, and cast to fish who rarely see flies...... how about both? You let us know what your best fishing trip could be, and we will make it happen!
