Foam season in Montana

Foam season in Montana

Our weather here in western Montana has really taken a turn for best for us this summer. In the past 6 days, Livingston, Montana has gotten over 50 inches of snow. Yellowstone National Park has gotten lots more. This has brought up our Yellowstone snow pack from about 87% in early January to above 120% right now. This is terrific news for our rivers and fish!

Right now it is -13 degrees outside and the drive way has a few 6 ft piles of snow from all of the shoveling. This is great weather to tie up some irresistible FOAM dry flies for the summer. There is a great fly tying shop in Bozeman called The Bozeman Family Fly Shop. This place is stacked from wall to wall with fly tying material. I went in there a few weeks ago to get some supplies. I bought a few sheets of foam along with saddle hackle and a bunch of other stuff. The owner told me that he orders some of his own foam on Amazon for a fraction of the price. I bought my supplies and thanked him. Then, I ordered some foam on Amazon for about 15 bucks…… and…..I got a lifetime supply. If you ever need advice for fly tying materials, call the shop in Bozeman.

Now that there is foam for years on my tying bench, the coffee is hot, and the weather could not be better for spinning up some bugs……… the fly boxes will have great selections come summer time. Our fishing this summer should be fantastic. Give us a call to book your adventure!
