Are you new to fly-fishing?
At Yellowstone River Outfitters, we pride ourselves on guiding anglers of all ability levels. Fly-fishing is a technique heavy activity that involves patience, effort, focus, and a can-do-have-a-good-time attitude (no matter your experience level!). Having said that, our guides pride themselves on their ability to teach “the progression of skills” necessary to having a successful day on the water. These skills are:
Casting
Getting a good “drift”
The “hook-set”
Fighting the fish
Smiling
Eventually (hopefully!) landing the fish and taking a (quick) picture!
If you are new to fly-fishing-no matter your age or previous fishing experience- it is our job to teach YOU these skills, enabling you to learn and become a better fly-fisher. Fly-fishing is not necessarily “easy”…. but it is super fun, and it takes you to some amazingly beautiful places. Yes, trout live in some incredibly scenic places. We are lucky to have a lot of beautiful and “fishy” places here in Yellowstone Country.
Beginning anglers can enjoy both Float Trips and walk-wade trips. Both trips offer their own MAJESTICNESS, PEACEFULNESS, and VARIATION. Float trips are great because we cover a lot of water on either the Yellowstone River or our Secluded Lakes. Walk-Wade trips are great because they allow anglers to really focus their efforts on specific runs and riffles. Also, Walk-wade trips often involve a hike for anglers who want to fish in truly wild and scenic settings. The hike is part of the adventure!
Fly-fishing is not rocket-science…….. But the fish do not catch themselves! It is our job to teach you how to fly-fish. It is your job to listen, ask questions, and enjoy the entire experience! We love taking anglers of all experience levels or ages fishing. This sport is truly amazing…….. and a ton of fun! Give us a call to book your Yellowstone/Montana fishing adventure. You will learn a lot…………… and………… most likely……. want to do it again!
