First Yellowstone River Trip of 2020 in the books!
Well, we are not normally floating the Yellowstone River in early March……. But, we have been experiencing some incredible weather as of late. Yesterday, it got up to 60 degrees, and the wind kept itself at bay. It was a fantastic day to be on the water and a great day for a guided fishing trip. The views speak for themselves this time of year with snow capped peaks in every direction. Anglers, Corey and Kelly, went out with Nolan and got it done! Every species made it to the net- Browns, Rainbows, and Cutthroats….. and the elusive Mountain Whitefish! Yes, it was a great day building memories in Montana.
Early Spring Fishing Tactics on the Yellowstone
-Nymphing is definitely the most productive method right now.
-Fish slow, deeper water
-All our boat ramps are good to go, but do check before you head out
-Bring extra warm clothes…. We are still in Winter
-Fish small dries and droppers in the foam
-Have a great time and enjoy this warm weather while we have it!
-Make sure you get a new fishing license for 2020. All 2019 licenses are expired as of March 1st.
Our sunshine should continue through the weekend, so get out there! We are actively booking trips for this season, so give us a call to plan you next Montana fly-fishing adventure. Yellowstone National Park opens for fishing on May 23rd, 2020. This is a little earlier than in years past. Fishing Yellowstone in late May and June is incredible. Let us take you on an adventure.
